About Mary Goodwin:
Mary Goodwin is an acclaimed Manchester artist known for her unconventional approach to creating mosaics from broken tiles and plates. She has been obsessed with mosaics ever since she came across one in the art department of Entebbe University, Uganda ten years ago.
She finished her teaching work in Africa and returned home to the UK where she began experimenting with her new found (to her) art form. A year later she would cross paths with Manchester’s original mosaic artist Mark Kennedy who opened Mary’s eyes to specific techniques, styles and possibilities.
Through various collaborative projects together (see The Guardian of Ancoats, Fall Corner and Crazy Pedro’s on Afflecks Palace and Jumping man Jordan in the Arndale to name a few) Mary has gone on developing her own body of work with a particular emphasis on portraits.
