Our Award-Finalist Bathroom Renovation in Didsbury
The project that secured our place in the final involved the complete renovation of a small family bathroom and separate WC within an early 20th-century terraced property in Didsbury, Manchester.
At approximately 2.8 square metres for the bathroom and 1.4 square metres for the separate WC, both rooms presented significant spatial and technical challenges.
Our client wanted to transform the outdated spaces into a beautiful, practical and comfortable bathroom environment whilst maintaining the character of her period home.
However, as is often the case with bathroom renovations in older properties, the true complexity of the project only became apparent once the existing bathroom was carefully stripped out.
What initially appeared to be a relatively straightforward bathroom installation soon developed into a much more technically demanding renovation.
Expert Bathroom Installation Is About Much More Than Fitting Tiles

On our award-finalist Didsbury project, our team undertook substantial structural and preparatory work, including rebuilding internal wall sections using appropriate timber framing, installing acoustic insulation, replacing damaged flooring and making essential alterations to the plumbing and drainage systems.
We also used specialist waterproof construction boards and tanking solutions to prepare the wet areas correctly, creating a reliable foundation for the finished bathroom.
Every stage required careful coordination, practical problem-solving and close attention to detail.
Our in-house bathroom fitters worked together with our installation project manager to ensure that the structural repairs, plumbing, waterproofing, tiling and final installation were completed to the standards we expect of every Quarrybank project.
Despite the unexpected challenges, the renovation was completed within approximately two and a half weeks.
Most importantly, our client was able to enjoy a beautifully finished bathroom, with the reassurance that the essential work behind the walls had received just as much care as the visible design.
