Teenage Girl’s Bathroom Design: A Pink Bathroom That Will Grow With Her
Designing a bathroom for a teenage girl is always an exciting brief. It gives us the opportunity to bring in personality, colour and fun — but the real skill is creating a space that still feels beautiful, practical and grown-up in years to come.
For this project, our young client loved pink. The temptation with pink can be to go too sweet, too themed or too “Barbie”, which can quickly date as tastes change. Instead, we introduced pink in a more considered and playful way, using patterned feature tiles to add character without overwhelming the room.
The original bathroom felt dark and heavy, with brown floor tiles, wood-effect wall tiles and a bulky shower enclosure. Our aim was to completely lift the space, making it feel brighter, fresher and far more suitable for a young girl — while still giving it enough maturity to last well into adulthood.
We balanced the soft pink tones with light grey tiles and clean white bathroom furniture. This helped create a calm, modern backdrop, allowing the pink detail to feel stylish rather than overly girly. The result is a bathroom that feels fun, fresh and full of personality, but still elegant enough to stand the test of time.
Storage was also an important part of the design. A wall-hung vanity unit keeps the floor space feeling open while providing useful storage for everyday essentials. The mirrored cabinet adds extra practicality, while the large shower enclosure gives the room a clean, spacious feel.
This project is a great example of how a teenage bathroom can be designed with the future in mind. By choosing a neutral base and adding colour through carefully selected feature tiles and accessories, the space can evolve as the client grows. Soft furnishings, towels and styling pieces can easily be changed over time, without the need for a full redesign.
The total cost of this bathroom project was £4,000, showing that a thoughtful and long-lasting bathroom design does not always need to be extravagant. With the right layout, clever product choices and a clear design direction, even a smaller bathroom can be transformed into something really special.
