On the 16th of May, the Directors of Quarrybank Boutique Showroom—Koralia and Steven Hume—had the pleasure of attending the prestigious Cheshire Life Champions Awards, an event orchestrated by the esteemed Cheshire Life Magazine. The evening, held with much fanfare, was hosted by Editor Joanne Goodwin and radio star Leanne Campbell.
The event was a gathering of truly remarkable individuals whose selfless dedication has brought about significant positive changes within our local community. For Quarrybank Boutique Showroom, community is at the heart of everything we do, making it a profound honour to sponsor the Local Hero Award category.
The finalists in our category have made incredible contributions towards enhancing our community, making the judges’ decision exceptionally challenging. Here’s a closer look at these inspiring individuals:
Sam Newey: The driving force behind bringing TEDx to Northwich and initiating the Community ReAwards to celebrate volunteers throughout Cheshire. Sam’s efforts in attracting speakers, coordinating volunteers, and raising funds are nothing short of heroic.
Elaine McGhee: A lifelong contributor to her community, Elaine has spent decades volunteering her time and energy to improve the lives of those around her. At 80, she continues to play a vital role in local outreach projects and is truly one-of-a-kind.
Bronwen Bebington: At 91, Bronwen’s commitment to her village is awe-inspiring. From organising food for events and cleaning the church to flower arranging, visiting the sick, and cooking for those in need, her boundless energy and immense heart are commendable.
It was a tremendous honour to present the Local Hero Award to Elaine McGhee. Upon receiving the award from Koralia, Elaine humbly remarked, “When I found out I was nominated for the award, I thought it was a hoax, someone was pranking me. Then, when I found out who nominated me, I couldn’t believe it, as this lady does even more than me. She deserves this award, not me.”
Joanne Goodwin, in her heartfelt speech, highlighted the spirit of Cheshire, where people celebrate each other’s successes. The room, filled with warmth and camaraderie, was a testament to what can be achieved when people unite for a common cause that benefits the broader community.
We at Quarrybank Boutique Showroom could not be prouder to be part of this amazing community of beautiful, loving, and selfless people. The evening left us inspired and deeply grateful for the opportunity to honour the true heroes among us.
